Birthday day out

I had a special birthday this month and i don't mind everyone knowing i am 40 :-)) i know myself better and have more confidence now than in my 20's,i can say no now when i want to say no instead of saying yes and then being mad with myself after lol,i can choose my friends and family, people who are good for me and who are positive, happy and want nothing from me other than friendship and love,i can craft all day long and have roses on my dress and bags and furnishings and i don't get called old fashioned lol,yes i like 40 it works me,my friend surprised me with this pretty pink cake she had made....
We picked my mum up in the car and she had the most beautiful flowers for me...i popped them in water and we started our journey out for the day....
We drove through pretty villages and said to each other "i would live there" " ooohh i love that one"......
We stopped the car to get out and enjoy the beauty of flower filled meadows,so pretty.....
Peeked over garden walls...isn't this stunning?....
Finally we arrived at the lavender farm...we love this place and visit every summer....
We walked around the gardens breathing in the heady scent of lavender filled air and rested on the many benches and enjoyed the beautiful views....
Listened to the buzzing of the bee's as they collected their pollen......
Popped inside and enjoyed lavender shortbread with lavender ice cream......
and sipped lavender tea,oh so English ;-)).....
We brought home lavender mint.....
and banana mint too.....

It was the most perfect birthday day out and we all slept really well after all that lavender,

 XxX

Happy Birthday. I have to share with you what my 8 year old grandson said to his mom: is it true that 40 isn't old for men but is for women? Me: absolutely not! Where did you hear this! Jacob: nowhere. I just thought of it. Where do kids come up with such ideas? 40 was great. You had such a lovely day with your mom, what a treasure.

Oh no, I missed your birthday! Such a lovely post, with lovely pics too. I'd very much like to visit that Lavender farm one day on our travels. Banana mint and lavender mint, I'm intrigued. Have they got a website? I'm so glad you had such a lovely birthday with your Mum, and the cake from your friend looks amazing. x

PS. I hope you can forgive me for missing such a momentous occasion of becoming 40. I'm closer to 50!
