I have had real trouble trying to upload pictures to Blogger these last few weeks, but tonight it has worked and i can post once more.
I have had two candelabras for a few years now and they had a really bad rust, aged paint effect that may have photographed better than they looked in real life....i have started sorting through things and getting a lot of things up to scratch during the week ready for when we move to the beach cottage next year....
After a coat of dark antique gold i lightly sprayed them with heirloom white and then buffed them off with some rub 'n' buff in antique gold,i also added some crystal drops i had spare and felt they looked pretty enough to stand on the mantle piece in the city for now...i had bought a Victorian vase on Ebay for ten pounds last week and thought i would fill it with roses and ladies mantle from the garden.....
I loved the shape of the vase,it looks like a wave has hit from behind and splashed up into the air....
I also loved the hand painted flowers and the gold gilt...the smell from the roses in the room is so beautiful.....if you double click on the picture below and look at the rose bud at the bottom right that looks like it has fern wrapped around it is called Chapeau De Napoleon and was introduced in 1827,it really is beautiful and if you see one buy one you will just adore it.....
We also found this standard lamp at the weekend that was originally a Victorian oil lamp stand,i have stripped most of the paint off as it had a really messy paint job that covered up most of the details on the flowers and leaves.....
I have the fabric ready to re-cover the shade too, tonight Steve and our youngest son are staying by the sea and myself and our eldest son are watching a movie and ordering a pizza after i have finished this post and had a quick soak in the bath,I have had two candelabras for a few years now and they had a really bad rust, aged paint effect that may have photographed better than they looked in real life....i have started sorting through things and getting a lot of things up to scratch during the week ready for when we move to the beach cottage next year....

Kristina...Nice job on the candlelabra! They look great. I REALLY love that vase...and I have never seen another quite like it. I love vases anyway.
Your roses are beautiful too. I think you have roses that grow there that don't do so well in the Midwest US. I have never seen, or heard of, the rose that you mentioned but it is a gorgeous specimen! Love it!;>) Diana
I adore that lamp, it is beautiful!!
