Hey Blogettes,
Have you seen the movie Something's Gotta Give? i have watched it so many times you wouldn't believe or would you? maybe you snuggle up and think ah what the heck! i'll watch it one more time there's nothing else on,like i do? i even collected a pocket full of white pebbles from the beach and i am waiting for him to pick me a black one...
Well watching again i noticed the...(ok you can start laughing now...if not you soon will be) gable end of the Something's Gotta Give house has these corbel things in a row underneath the attic window......
And we have them on ours? oh and the pebbles too haha (who's laughing?) awwwww look at our dream Beach Cottage...reality can be harsh can it not? (click on picture for a better laugh)
you can also see my neighbors sparkly new roof to the right of the picture and just below the hedge that i severely cut back last week, the huge pile of branches from cutting the garden down will come in handy once the fireplace is fitted....the board against the side of the house used to be the sun room floor but it was a bit manky so we had to tear it out and that is when the window flew out to the right of the door that is now boarded up...we have never laughed so hard, honestly it was like a comedy sketch.....(we don't slam anything around here now just in case something else drops off)
So my question to you is....would you cedar shingle the whole house like the Something's gotta give house and paint the corbels and edging white? we really want to go with cedar shingles as they are really insulating and they look great,do any of you have them on your home?
The tide was really far out and the beach looked huge...not bad for a November day...
Until Later x

I love this movie too!!!! The house is great in it...and well, it's just so darn funny. But your lil beach house is dreamy too. Look how close you are to the sea! I can imagine how exciting this all is for you. ox~ kerrie
Isn't it funny how different people like different things. I did love the house in that movie, but absolutely hated the movie - I found the dialogue dreadful and I got bored half way through! :-)
Not sure I can give advice on your present dilemma, but please ask me anything you want when you start on the garden! x
Oh yeah, that house is deee-vine!
I love your house. Just darling..and I love cedar shingles and wish we could use them, too. The wooden shingles makes insurance go up too much..we just can't afford it.
How wonderful to see the ocean each day. The tide being so low, I miss that so. I miss beachcombing too. do you find shells or sea glass?
I loved that movie and saw it again recently.
I know that the weather can be a consideration on which siding will do well....I am into little upkeep and insurance personally,,,I love the look of tudor style that it already has. I do envy you this cottage.
